Small Quilt Benefit Auction
What is it? Small Quilt Auction (SQA) is our largest fund-raiser. Most of
the proceeds (75%) are divided between local charitable organizations chosen by
La Plata Quilters Guild each year. The remaining funds stay in the guild to fund
our outreach and educational programs.
When is it? We hold the SQA each year on the first Sunday of June. We
set up our racks and hang the quilts in the morning, and at noon the auction
preview begins!
Where is it? SQA will take place in Rotary Park again this year. That's
the park with the gazebo, located at 15th Street and 2nd Avenue in Durango.
What do we auction? We auction small quilts - wall hangings, pillows,
place mats - or anything else donated to the cause by our generous and talented
guild members.
How can I donate a quilt? Just complete the
Donation Form, and
turn your quilt and form to Chris Pfeiffer at any of our meetings.
How can my organization become a beneficiary of the next
Small Quilt Auction? Organizations interested in being beneficiaries for
our 2009 Small Quilt Auction can find an
application and guidelines on this site
after November 1, 2008. The organizations must complete and return their applications
and supporting documents between November 1 and December 31, 2008. The organizations who
are chosen will be notified by February 15, 2009.
